Unity4

Hi we are Ava Lynn (8 years old), Kenna (10 years old), Didi (11 years old) and Sydney (10 years old)......and we are Unity4!  We are a group of friends from different ethnic backgrounds that share a passion for dance.  We do all styles of dance from ballet and lyrical, to hip hop and jazz.  Although, we perform a wide range of dance styles, we really enjoy doing lyrical pieces together.  The soft movements of Lyrical allows us to express the love and friendship we have for each other.

We started dancing together about 4 years ago, and from there a beautiful friendship began to grow. We realized how lucky we are to have this bond and talent,  and we wanted to do something special with it.  We started Unity4 to spread a positive message to young girls around the world. Our goal is to be positive role models and to show girls that with love and friendship anything can be achieved. We hope to spread the word of love and acceptance and remind the world that no matter who you are, or where you are from....we are 'more alike than different'. We are each of a different ethnicity and look different on the outside, but inside we are all the same.....we are all 'United' in this life.  We hope to spread the message that we are all the same, and to support each other.

Our group has done a lot of charitable events with our amazing studio, Element Dance Studio in Hillsboro OR.  Every year we help the community through various events at local schools and bazaars by putting on performances to help schools raise money for their students.  We also take a day every spring and clean up one of our city parks.  We pick up any trash that may be laying around, and plant new trees and flowers.  A few of the girls have had the pleasure of being part of the Synopsys Global Volunteer program and assisted in the painting of a local school last year.  We also have worked with Rock n' Rooms, a local non profit organization that decorates hospital rooms for kids enduring transplants and extended stays at Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Randall Children's Hospital in Portland OR.

The event that we are most excited about is coming up this November.  We were recently approached by the head of child life at Doernbecher Children's Hospital and asked to put on a performance for their patients.  We are so humbled and thankful to have been asked to do this.  Being able to share our joy and passion for dance with these kids is definately going to be the most fulfilling thing we have done yet.

We are not sure what the future holds for Unity4, but we hope to continue our mission spreading love and acceptance to young girls through our friendship and love of dance.  Our dream is to be positive role models and when we get older know that we were able to inspire other girls.  To be able to hear someone say 'because of you I knew I could....' is our ultimate goal!
