My daughter did ballet for 3 years and wanted to switch to modern jazz. I didn't want to waste money on the leather jazz shoes, in the event she didn't like the class. Plus I thought the leather shoes might be slippery. She loved the canvas and they won't slippery. When she first put them on for class, I felt I should have gone up half a size. But when her class was done, she said the shoe didn't feel tight along the sides. Great shoe for the price.
