Diana Figueroa

I am 23 years old I started dancing at 3 and then I quit. I started again at 13 in my hometown Miami, Florida under Rosario Suarez, a prima ballerina from the National ballet of Cuba. I then trained at the Miami Conservatory with Mariana Alvarez on a dance scholarship under Ruth Wiesen and because of her, my potential for danced was unleashed. My family did not have the income for me to pursue dance but thanks to this studio I was able to follow my dream. I attended New World School of the Arts for 3 years of my high school and my senior year I was given a scholarship to attend The Harid Conservatory, a boarding school for Ballet in Boca Raton Florida. I got my Bachelors in Fine Arts from Point Park University in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I danced professionally with Merztanz Contemporary Ballet under Peter Merz, the current school director of ballet west. I danced as a guest artist with Atlantic City ballet in New Jersey. I was a company dancer for a year with Roxey Ballet in Lambertville, New Jersey. I just moved back to Miami, Florida and I am starting my first season as a company dancer with Dimension Dance Theatre of Miami.

I am also in graduate school studying Speech Pathology which I plan to one day incorporate with dance therapy for special needs kids. When I am not dancing or going to school, I am teaching dance to kids of all ages.

I have been dancing for 11 years and I specialize in Contemporary Ballet.

My restlessness made me want to dance, it was a way for me to feel fulfilled.

My greatest accomplishment has been hearing little girls that want to be just like me. 

Being a role model for a younger generations has always been a passion of mine.

My most memorable moments include all the friendships I have made both nationally and internationally. 

All people who share my same passion.

My greatest challenge as a young dancer was always comparing myself to other dancers.

My advice is to be the best version of your self. Always compete with yourself and no one else.
